In addition to an impressive bust, women who have silicone implants have another advantage according to American scientists who concluded that breast augmentation with silicone implants can reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

With one condition, as they say in their research: The speed of the vehicle should not be too high.

For example, as the German newspaper "Bild" writes, if an accident occurs in a supermarket parking lot, female drivers who have breast augmentation risk less damage than women who have trusted nature, or than men.

"The breast silicones act like a mini-air bag in a low-speed impact," explains Dr. Helge Jens, plastic and aesthetic surgery specialist at the Aachen "Domhof" clinic.

"Silicone can better distribute the pressure to which the chest wall is exposed in a car accident," she adds.

The study of doctors of the Society of Plastic Surgery in Spokane (Washington state) confirms the results of the German clinic of Aachen.

American researchers improvised a car crash with and without silicone inserts, with an impact of nearly 2000 Newtons. This load corresponds to an impact speed of about 16 kilometers per hour in a car, a force capable of breaking ribs.

Based on the results of the scientists, the strain of the breast with silicone implants was 23% lower than with a natural breast.

However, as the authors of the American study were quick to point out, "fat tissue and silicone breast implants do not actually replace seat belts and air bags."

It is noted that according to the German Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (DGÄPC), approximately 67,000 women undergo silicone breast augmentation each year.
