Every year, on June 1, countries around the world celebrate International Children's Day, a special day dedicated to the youngest members of our society. This day is not only a moment for play and fun, but also an opportunity to reflect on the rights, well-being and protection of children everywhere in the world.

Children of all ages, on this day, want to feel happy, loved and celebrate together with their family and peers. In cities and villages, numerous festive activities are organized, from concerts, children's parades, various games to exhibitions and awareness-raising activities.

However, Children's Day is not just a holiday. It also has a deeper mission: to raise awareness in society about the importance of protecting children from violence, abuse and exploitation. It is the day when children themselves can raise their voices for their rights, doing so in the most beautiful way they know – through play and celebration.

The History of June 1 as Children's Day

International Children’s Day was established on June 1st in memory of the World Conference on the Welfare of Children, held in Geneva in 1925. On the same day, in San Francisco, the Chinese consul general organized a party for a group of orphaned children as part of the Dragon Boat Festival. These symbolic events marked the beginning of a celebration that would take on global proportions.

Since 1927, this day began to be officially celebrated in many countries around the world, continuing to this day as one of the most beloved dates for children and families.

In Albania too, June 1st is a colorful day, where children are the center of attention. Educational institutions, municipalities, and organizations dealing with children's rights organize numerous activities to give children an unforgettable day.

From toy and book fairs, to theater performances, art competitions, and awareness-raising messages – everything focuses on a single goal: to make children feel safe, loved, and important.
