Qatar has been in the spotlight for days and apart from football, people are also interested in details, such as the roads, which are blue.

Because of the high temperatures in Qatar, life is sometimes unbearable. That is why they decided to use innovative technology in Doha. One of them is blue-colored asphalt, that is, a one-millimeter-thick layer of blue color, which makes it possible to reduce surface temperatures by up to 20 degrees, reports Qataraliving.

And so, in the pilot project, the black asphalt was repainted. The first 200 meters were used as a kind of experiment in which sensors monitored the temperature change for 18 months. The temperature has dropped from a high of 69 degrees by more than 10 degrees on the blue tarmac.

In the city they tried other colors, green, red, purple, but blue gave the best results.

A similar project was implemented in Los Angeles, where streets and some playgrounds were covered with a special layer. The effect of lowering the heating was noticeable and reached about seven degrees.
