A woman experienced the greatest disappointment. For 43 years, she has visited a grave other than her father's.

Sylvia Ross, 67, has regularly visited the grave she believed to be her father's for more than 40 years.

Sylvia buried father John Thomas Thompson, at Witton Park Cemetery in Bishop Auckland, USA, in 1979.

The family only discovered the mistake from a Facebook post about a wrongly placed plaque at the cemetery, which was being moved by the council. It was then confirmed that Sylvia and her family had been visiting the wrong grave for years, writes the Daily Mail.

An investigation is underway to find out how this mistake happened and how Sylvia's father was buried two plots away from what they thought was the fixed site.

Sylvia's daughter, Lynette, said: The family members have realized that the mess with the graves was made by the municipality and those in charge of the cemetery after the change of their ownership. The authorities have apologized to the family and corrected their mistake, but the family members are still shocked and shocked.
