The story with a happy ending of the 20-year-old Albanian who came out of a coma

After a long coma of three months, a happy ending for a 20-year-old Albanian.

Antigona, a student at the Buontalenti Hospitality Institute in Florence, amazed everyone, even the doctors who described her condition as hopeless.

According to Repubblica, Antigona showed great will and today managed to graduate with 85 points out of a maximum of 100 and now dreams of becoming a pastry chef. The nightmare of the student enrolled in the last year of high school began last April 28 when, during a physical education lesson, a heart attack caused her to fall on top of a classmate. The intervention was immediate by teachers and janitors, who had called for help.

Waiting for the arrival of the emergency, to give the 20-year-old first aid, was the intervention of the deputy director of the institute, Professor Francesco Trapani, who had practiced cardiac massage and mouth-to-mouth breathing until the arrival of the emergency.

"I didn't save him, he was saved by the fact that courses are organized here to learn how to manage these situations", commented the teacher afterwards.

The fear of Antigone's critical situation returned during the trip to the hospital, where the young woman suffered a second heart attack. Immediately after arriving, she entered a deep coma, which doctors had described as irreversible. The effort to not leave Antigone alone was the love of family, schoolmates and teachers.

"We were all cheering for him, but the doctors said the situation was desperate," says Maria Francesca Cellai, director of the institute.

But Antigone did not give up and so on August 1, after three months, she managed to everyone's surprise to overcome the darkness of the coma, although unfortunately not in time to take the final exams in July. But to help the student, the chairman of the high school examination committee, Professor Sergio Berardi, has moved, as required by ministerial legislation, set up an extraordinary session for her. And here, with great joy, the goal of maturity was also conquered by Antigone, who now does not think of stopping. After completing the rehabilitation, in fact, the young student set herself the goal of becoming a cook or pastry chef, also thanks to a scholarship given to her by Spi-Cgil.
