Dire Straits guitarist Jack Sonny has died at the age of 68.
The musician's death was announced in an emotional post from the famous band, which read "Jack Sonni Rest In Peace DireStraits".
Sonny was known as the band's 'other guitarist' during the Brothers in Arms era, the name of their fifth album, released in 1985.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
On Tuesday, Dire Straits Legacy, an official group of musicians who toured with the band, announced Jack's deteriorating health in a social media post.
Sonny had been working at the famous New York guitar shop Rudy's Music Stop in the 1970s when he first met The Dire Straits co-founders David and Mark Knopfler.
He played with the band at the iconic 1985 Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium which raised money for the famine that hit Ethiopia.
Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, although Knopfler has continued his music career as a solo artist.
