For three days, rescue teams and ambulances for stray animals in Greece have been operating in areas affected by the fires, rescuing domestic and stray animals left in danger.

Amidst burned-out homes and abandoned settlements, rescuers are checking house by house for signs of life.

From a dog tied up in the yard of a half-destroyed apartment building to four newborn kittens found inside a wood-burning stove, these are images of the moments of animal rescues that were found in the affected areas.
