A couple was asked for a 500 euro fee from a bar in Mykonos to watch the sunset

Greek media describe the latest incident on the island of Mykonos as a scandal.

The event stars a couple of American tourists. They are sitting next to a bar in the area called 'Little Venice' on the island of Mykonos to enjoy the sunset in the company of a drink, but are surprised when the waiter asked for 500 euros.

As soon as they sat down and tried to order something to drink, the waiter informed them that the minimum consumption in a well-known cafe-bar in Little Venice is 500 euros.

The event was announced by Mykonos resident Dimitris Koutsoukos in a Facebook post.

"Two of my friends from San Francisco have come to Mykonos, who are neither poor nor suckers. Yesterday they wanted to go somewhere for a drink and watch the sunset. They sat in one of the bars, just before sunset. The waiter went to get the order and was told it is 500 euros minimum consumption for the table. They got up and left. Today I asked someone who knows him and he told me that not all shops there have a minimum consumption of drinks ... So we only want very rich tourists in Mykonos? "We have fled a lot to this island," he wrote.

Greek media write that this case and not only is tarnishing tourism in Greece, as tourists in Mykonos are not all oligarchs, Arab sheikhs or multimillionaires. The vast majority are normal people, obviously rich, but not willing to empty their wallet for any abusive tavern or bar owner.

Just a few weeks ago, the case of two American tourists, a mother and daughter, who had ordered two cocktails and crab legs, was shocked when the bill came to over 600 euros and 65 euros were set for tips without their knowledge.
