With free train to discover Europe, 35 thousand tickets available for young

Travel by train around Europe for free! It is the opportunity offered to 35 thousand young people by the DiscoverEU program of the European Commission, which has published the call for applications. The application deadline is until Tuesday, April 30 at 12 noon.

Young people born from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006, who have citizenship or residence in one of the member states of the European Union or in one of the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ program (Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway , Serbia and Turkey) are also eligible to apply.

Candidates will have to answer a six-question quiz on the European Youth Portal. The Commission will then rank the candidates based on their answers and offer train tickets based on the ranking, within the limits of available passes.

Selected applicants will receive a free ticket for train travel in Europe between 1 July 2024 and 30 September 2025 for a maximum period of 30 days and will receive a European Youth Card which will give them access to reduced fares for cultural visits, educational activities, sports, transport, accommodation and food.

Participants can travel alone or in a group of up to 5 people. Before submitting an application, a group leader must be assigned to complete the application form and answer the quiz.

During the submission of the application, the group leader receives a code which he must transmit to the group members to allow them to register. With the code provided by the group leader, other group members can register online and fill in their personal information.

The Commission launched DiscoverEU in June 2018 and then integrated it into the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme. Since 2018, 284,000 tickets have been distributed. The DiscoverEU experience enabled young people to better understand other cultures and European history and improve their language skills.
