A rare type of pigeon has been rediscovered after 140 years. Scientists were able to capture some footage of the rare bird in Papa New Guinea.
It was a huge effort which involved interviews with local residents and several camera traps.
"It felt like finding a unicorn," said expedition co-leader John Mittermeier.
Researchers hope the discovery will help save the species from extinction. Researchers had been trying to track down the pigeon for some time, but had failed.
The images captured by scientists are the first documented since 1882.
"This is a moment you dream of all your life," said Mittermeier.
Little is known about the pigeon species, but scientists hope to find out more in the future.
