The viral photo ignites the fashion debate: The girls of the new generation don't know how to dress!

A viral photo of a group of young women all wearing the same outfit has sparked an intense fashion debate.

Shared on X, the image features what appears to be a group of Gen Z girls (ages 12-27) wearing a similar outfit – baggy light blue jeans paired with simple, black tops.

While baggy jeans and a simple top (top) have long been considered a typical "off-duty" look for the models, many fashion enthusiasts were puzzled that the group chose this outfit for a night out, seeing it as more suitable for everyday wear.

"Does anyone have a theory on how light colored jeans suddenly became considered evening wear?" asked the people at X.

The responses flooded in, with some agreeing that jeans were only for daytime wear.

"Gen Z still doesn't know how to dress for different times of the day or evening," wrote one commenter.

Meanwhile, another user said: "There is no way some people believe that different colors of jeans are only suitable for different times of the day."

"I didn't know people thought of jeans this way," someone else commented.

Others commented on the fact that people in the younger generations all seem to dress the same.

“I can't believe I sound like an old person, but it's amazing how everyone dresses the same now! We may have dressed badly once, but at least we had a PERSONALITY!” claimed one user.

According to Tina Grasso, founder of Australian fashion label Chouchou Intimates, choosing to wear light-colored jeans represents a blurring of the lines between day and night fashion.

"I believe this trend of jeans and a simple T-shirt is a nod to the '90s, with Cindy Crawford wearing this often," explained Grasso.

Grasso noted that the resurgence of '90s fashion on social media has greatly influenced Gen Z's outfit choices for nights out.

She explained that wearing baggy jeans to bars and clubs serves as a subtle rebellion against societal expectations to dress the same way previous generations did.

Gen Z also values ??"functional" fashion, favoring clothing that is comfortable.

While Grasso personally believes that darker jeans are "the ideal choice for a night out," she insists that when it comes to fashion, "there are no rules!"

The key to making flared jeans suitable for an evening look, she says, lies in their style.

"You can wear them with heels, bold accessories, or even a jacket," she suggested.

Another user said: "There is no way some people believe that different colors of jeans are only suitable for different times of the day.

When asked why she thinks Gen Z tends to dress similarly, she replied: “All generations do, as we're all influenced by trends, pop culture and shared experiences.

I believe that designers are the ones who set this precedent. We create pieces for our audience that create trends, which is why we see so many similar items.

If you look specifically at Gen Z, the 'cool' factor often comes down to how you style an outfit rather than the 'brand' or 'prestige' of an item per se, they really celebrate personal creativity and individuality, which I admire ", Grasso said.
