A party with more than 100 guests, Portuguese dishes based on meat or fish and dancers performing.

This is how the birthday of Bob, the longest living dog ever, who just turned 31 was celebrated.

Born and raised in the Portuguese village of Conqueiros, Bobi according to his owner, Leonel Costa, has managed to live so long thanks to the peaceful environment he has always been in.

Free to roam freely in the wooded areas near his home, he has never been chained.

As for nutrition, however, he has always eaten home-cooked food, contrary to all veterinary indications.

The quiet life of this celebrity has become fuller in recent times, when last February he was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-lived dog ever.

Guinness even sent him birthday wishes.

"Many journalists and onlookers came from all over the world to take a photo with Bob," said Mr Costa, 38.

There were so many visits that Bob was affected by the stress.

Bob has difficulty walking and likes to rest a lot, while showing no major health problems.

"If Bobby could talk, he could explain how he lived so long," explained Leonel Costa.
