Police in Catalonia have arrested the son of Isak Andic, the founder of the Mango fashion chain, in connection with the latter's death in the mountains near Barcelona almost 18 months ago.

Andic, who was 71, died in December 2024 after falling 100 metres down a stream while hiking in Montserrat with his son, Jonathan.

Initially, it was reported to be a tragic accident, but inconsistencies in the statements of the son, Jonathan Andic, and other evidence prompted investigators to investigate further. Jonathan Andic was vice chairman of the fashion company's board of directors.

Isak Andic, who was born into a Sephardic Jewish family in Istanbul in 1953, emigrated to Catalonia in the late 1960s and began selling T-shirts to other high school students.

He then ran a wholesale business before opening his first Mango store in 1984.
