It echoes in all of our ears and we have even turned the famous phrase from the movie "White Roads" into a joke, 'Hey Dad, do you hear me'?
Perhaps few know that this story is true, a ranger in the mountains of the village of Domgjon in Mirdita was really stuck on a pole and could not return home on the evening of December 31, 1966. He instantly kidnapped the then 46-year-old Pjetër forever. Wool Doda. The son, Zefi, came to "Essence" to tell us more about his father's memories and life without him, the family with 5 children where things were not so simple.
"We didn't think that father wouldn't come home one day from that job. Even my mother, who knew his difficulties, could not imagine it," he confesses.
Zefi tells us that they have been difficult years, but he and his family have had the constant help of uncles and other close people. He says that they also had the help of the state, while he remembers that the former dictator personally sent him two greeting cards for the New Year.
They have few memories and photos of their father, but their image is alive in their memories and experiences.
"When they gave my father the title of Hero of Socialist Work, it seemed to me that they revived me," he says while recalling that this appreciation for his father made him very happy.
The film dedicated to the figure of his father is a moment that he keeps as one of the precious things, even telling us that he has maintained friendship over the years with the actor Rikard Ljarja who was under the guise of Deda in the film. He was even the first person at Zefi's brother's wedding, one of the most beautiful memories they keep as a family. A rare and priceless gesture on the part of the actor.
A special surprise for Zefi came through a video message from the painter Mark Paci, the author of a painting sketch of Pjetër Doda that was used as the image of postage stamps in the country, after his death.
