Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty journalist and producer Vira Hyrych was killed during a Russian rocket attack on Kiev, hitting the apartment where she lived.

The attack took place on 28 April. Her lifeless body was found under the rubble on the morning of April 29th.

Vira Hyrych has worked for Radio Free Europe since 2018. Previously, she worked for Ukrainian television channels.

As a result of the Russian attack on April 28 in Kiev, the first two floors of the 25-storey building were partially destroyed and then the fire started. According to city authorities, four other people were taken to hospital.

The attacks in Kiev took place on the day when the Ukrainian capital was visited by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia launched attacks in Kiev shortly after meeting with the UN chief.

The Russian Defense Minister said that the attacks were precise and aimed at a missile industry area.

The Ukrainian authorities have not reported anything like that./ rel
