The process has started at the factory of the company 'FIAT' and the models are expected to go on sale from the middle of next year.

"This is the beginning of a new era", with these words, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçi ka opened his speech on the start of production of electric cars at the FIAT factory in Kragujevac.

Vehicles from this factory are expected to go on sale in mid-2024, while the model remains a secret.

President Vuçiç said that Serbia will follow in the footsteps of the modern world in terms of electric car production.

The contract signed between the company and the Serbian state envisages a transition period until 2023, in order for the factory to adapt to the production of the new model.

The transition from traditional to electric cars brings about changes in energy and economy. For manufacturers, the new model represents a revolution in the automotive industry.

Carlos Tavares, FIAT chief executive said the changes are unknown in the automotive industry due to changing technology.

The signed agreement will help the company achieve 100% sales in the mixed market of electric cars in Europe within this decade, as well as zero emissions by 2038.
