The European Union is preparing to defend its interests with proportionate countermeasures to US President Donald Trump's tariffs and will work with its partners in this regard, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today after a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Von der Leyen also said the EU is committed to working closely with Britain on security and defense and is concerned about Russia's obstruction of peace efforts in Ukraine.
The European Commission President will meet Starmer in London on April 24 as part of the International Conference on the Future of Energy Security.
Just spoke with @Keir_Starmer and shared my concern over the impact of the US tariffs on the global economy.
