"Croatian Trump" declares victory in presidential election
Zoran Milanovic

Considered the Donald Trump of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic declared victory moments ago in the Croatian presidential election.

After exit polls showed Milanovic winning the first round, he made a brief statement on Facebook. "Thank you everyone for the support," he wrote briefly on Facebook.

Milanovic is considered a populist and anti-European Union figure.

According to exit polls published by HRT and Nova TV, Zoran Milanović wins 51.48%, Dragan Primorac 19.29%, Marija Selak Raspudić 8.84%, Ivana Kekin 8.33%, Tomislav Jonjić 3.99%, Miro Bulj 3.48%, Branka Niçko and 2.5ki Lozo Kartelo 0.80%.

Milanovic previously served as prime minister in Russia. He has condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but at the same time has condemned Western aid to the Ukrainian army. He has been described by political opponents as "pro-Russian."
