International financial markets recorded strong gains, while oil prices fell significantly after US President Donald Trump's statements that the United States is close to reaching an agreement with Iran.
Trump's comments increased investor optimism for a diplomatic resolution to tensions between Washington and Tehran, prompting positive reactions on global stock markets and easing concerns about oil supply disruptions.
The MSCI Asia-Pacific index rose 3.3%, its best performance in two months. Meanwhile, South Korea's Kospi index rose 8%, supported by strong investor interest in the technology and artificial intelligence sectors. Futures contracts on Wall Street also signaled further gains after Trump declared that "today we ended the war with Iran."
At the same time, the markets' attention has also been focused on the expected stock market debut of SpaceX. According to reports, the company has raised $75 billion in its initial public offering (IPO), at a price of $135 per share and a market valuation of about $1.77 trillion.
Meanwhile, the energy market reacted with oil prices falling. Brent crude fell 1.69%, trading around $88.85 per barrel, while US WTI crude lost 1.57%, falling to around $86.34 per barrel.
According to Trump's statements, the US administration has toned down the rhetoric of a military intervention and is focusing on negotiations with the Iranian leadership. He added that a deal could be signed as early as this weekend in Europe, with the participation of Vice President JD Vance.
