A woman at the head of the DP in Fier

For the first time in the history of the Democratic Party branch in Fier, a woman is taking over its leadership. Enkelejda Veliu has been elected the new chairwoman of the DP in Fier, winning against four other candidates, Ardian Ferro, Fatjon Semanjaku, Gentian Koçi and Festim Meta.

The race was close between Veliu and Ardian Ferro, with only four votes difference. Veliu received 196 votes, while Ferro received 192.

Around 3,800 members of the DP in Fier participated in the voting process. Meanwhile, after reviewing the lists, the number of branch membership has been significantly reduced, from around 8,000 members previously.

The elections for the head of the DP branch in Fier were not held within the deadline set by the party's statute, unlike other branches in the country. 

During this period, the position of acting mayor was held by Ardian Ferro.
