Donald Trump, the candidate of the Republican Party in the upcoming US presidential elections, revealed that in his last meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in July, he told the Israeli Prime Minister to quickly end the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“He knows what he's doing and I encouraged him to finish it quickly. It needs to be over quickly, they need to win and settle it. The killing must stop," Trump said, as reported by Reuters.

Netanyahu and Trump denied media reports that they discussed a possible Gaza ceasefire deal and the release of hostages on Wednesday.

"Contrary to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak with former President Donald Trump yesterday," Netanyahu's office announced, while Trump stated that he had not discussed this with the Israeli prime minister, but that he may do so.

Netanyahu visited the US in July, during which he addressed the US Congress and met with US President Joe Biden, Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, as well as Trump at his Florida residence.

Egypt, the US and Qatar are leading negotiations for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, and Washington has repeatedly said that reaching such an agreement would lead to a reduction in tension and the threat of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
