US President Donald Trump  has commented on the numerous attempts by foreign countries, including China, to negotiate with the United States after the imposition of new tariffs.

This situation comes at a time of tensions, after the White House announced the imposition of a total tariff of 104% on imports from China and 20% on the European Union, escalating the trade war that has engulfed the world's largest economies.

Asian markets immediately fell as European and Chinese diplomats sought ways to avoid escalation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in a phone call with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, called for “restraint and a negotiated solution.”

But Trump's rhetoric seems to be going in the opposite direction, signaling satisfaction with the pressure that tariffs are putting on US trading partners.

"They're dying to make a deal! They're calling us to kiss our asses," he said, using his familiar, direct and defiant style that has divided opinion both domestically and internationally.

Analysts are divided in their opinions: some see this as a tactical move to force partners to sit at the negotiating table with conditions more favorable to the US, while others say that such an escalation could deepen divisions.

For now, all eyes are on Beijing and Brussels and how they will respond not only to the tariffs but also to Trump's words.
