Chemistry student creates world's largest homemade drug lab inside his home

One of the largest artisanal laboratories ever discovered in Europe, capable of producing a large and diverse range of narcotics, was discovered in Novara, with police arresting a 22-year-old student.

The Flying Squad, the narcotics section, after a several-month investigation, managed to identify the young man with a passion for chemistry, who inside his home, in the Sant'Antonio neighborhood, had set up a clandestine laboratory for the production of methamphetamine and many other synthetic drugs.

The student had used the ground floor for distillation and the attic for mixing and creating chemical compounds.

Mobile agents, after numerous raids, were certain of the presence of the laboratory, because the "chemist" opened the windows several times a day to ventilate the rooms, releasing into the air the smell emanating from the cooking of methamphetamine.

At that moment, when the boy was alone at home, the investigators entered and found themselves in front of a room on the ground floor lit by a dim red lamp: on a table there was a complex distillation system made up of flasks, beakers, burettes in borosilicate glass to withstand the high temperatures of drug cooking. In addition, there were many chemical precursors that are not found on the legal market, but only on the dark web or in other illegal channels.

The mixing and preparation area for the compounds was located in the attic of the house. Many doses were already ready for sale.

Among the drugs produced in the home laboratory, reminiscent of the TV series "Breaking Bad", were methamphetamine, MDMA, DMT, Dom and Dob, writes La Repubblica.

The Interregional Cabinet of the Scientific Police – Forensic Chemistry Laboratory – Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta and the local Scientific Police also participated in the operation.
