Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine brokered by Turkey could be reactivated after being suspended in 2022. It is a visit by Vladimir Putin to Ankara next month that could revive the mediation.

Putin is likely to travel to Turkey on February 12, as reported by Turkish media, which refers to the Russian news agency, Ria Novosti.

Even the advisor for the Kremlin's foreign policy, Yuri Ushakov, announced that this mission is being worked on.

Kiev's attention, however, at the moment appears to be directed more towards what it perceives as the West's insecurity in continued financial and military support. But fears have been exacerbated in recent hours by a rumor circulating in parliamentary circles that the commander-in-chief of Ukrainian forces, Valery Zaluzhny, whose relationship with President Volodymyr Zelensky has soured in recent months, will resign.

The announcement, immediately denied by the Ministry of Defense, was made first by the former deputy, Borislav Bereza, and then by the current lawmaker, Alexey Goncharenko.

The latter said on his Telegram channel that Putin had learned from "two sources" that Zaluzhny had resigned from the post, then rejected the proposal to be appointed ambassador to a European country.

Meanwhile, Putin met the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow. "It is important that Russia and Belarus continue their close cooperation amid unprecedented external pressure," Putin said.

Thus, the disappearance of the Russian-British dissident Vladimir Kara-Murza, who was taken from the Siberian prison where he was held since September, and now his whereabouts are unknown, is reported.

Vladimir Kara-Murza has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for treason and spreading false information about Russia's war in Ukraine. He was in solitary confinement for four months in the IK-6 prison in Omsk.
