On Mount Levotobi Laki-Laki in Indonesia's Eastern Nusa Tenggara province, a volcano erupted today, casting a cloud of ash over 10 kilometers high, the Indonesian Volcanological Agency announced.
Several eruptions have been recorded in recent months, including an eruption in early July that spewed volcanic ash 18 kilometers high, which caused disruptions to air traffic to and from the nearby island of Bali, Reuters reports.
The volcanological agency warned people to stay six to seven kilometers away from the crater and be cautious due to the risk of mud in case of heavy rainfall.
Photos released by the agency show a dramatic scene of volcanic thunder over the volcano and a column of ash reflecting red lava flowing down the mountainside.
