A gunman opened fire inside a church in Alabama in the evening, killing two people and wounding another before being arrested, authorities said.
The attack took place at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills, a suburb of Birmingham, police chief Shane Ware said.
He said police had received a call at 6:20 p.m., local time, about an active assailant.
Ware said the suspect has been arrested and "there is no danger to the community at this time."
Police have not identified the attacker or the victims and have not provided any details about the attack.
The shooting at the church came just one month after one person was killed and five others were injured after a person opened fire on Taiwanese worshipers at a church in Southern California. Also, this attack on this shrine comes seven years after a white supermacist killed nine people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
The United States has recently faced several gun attacks.
On May 14, ten African-Americans were killed at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. One week later, an assailant killed 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
Recall that on June 11, thousands of people in Washington rallied demanding stricter gun control measures.
