After reaching an agreement with Hamas, the Israeli government has approved the first phase of the Gaza peace plan, which includes the exchange of Palestinian hostages and prisoners and the achievement of a ceasefire, which has come into effect immediately, as stipulated in the document signed in Egypt.

The IDF will withdraw to the Yellow Line shown on the agreement maps within the next 24 hours, after which Hamas must hand over all hostages within 72 hours (20 alive and 28 dead). In exchange for the hostages, about 2,000 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel will also be released. So, "Monday or Tuesday," as Trump announced cheerfully at a cabinet meeting at the White House.

The ceasefire will be monitored by a Joint Task Force and military personnel from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The US will send 200 troops as part of the plan. The troops will be based in Israel. In addition, US Central Command will establish a "civil-military coordination center" in Israel that will help facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid, as well as logistical and security assistance to Gaza.

Agreement on the first phase of the peace plan was reached late Wednesday, while talks on the second phase will begin immediately after all hostages are released. Meanwhile, the US president announced that he may visit the Middle East on Sunday after successful negotiations on this first phase.

"The hostages will be back on Monday or Tuesday. I'll probably be there. I hope to be there. And we plan to leave on Sunday and I look forward to doing that," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
