The US administration has released thousands of previously classified documents related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.
This follows an executive order from President Donald Trump shortly after he took office.
Kennedy was shot during a visit to Dallas, Texas in November 1963. More than 1,100 files containing more than 31,000 pages were posted on the National Archives of Records website.
Trump says more than 80,000 new pages will be released. US authorities had previously released hundreds of thousands of documents on the Kennedy assassination, but some have remained secret, citing national security concerns.
Experts have said that many of the documents released are partially redacted, but some of the files had passages that were difficult to read because they were faded or poorly scanned photocopies.
Former President Kennedy was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, a Marine veteran who had defected to the Soviet Union and later returned to America.
Many believe that the author did not act alone, prolonging the case and raising theories and suspicions that government agents, the mafia and many other characters were involved in this case. / The Guardian
