Thousands of citizens from all municipalities of Kosovo gathered on Thursday in Skanderbeg Square in Pristina to express their support for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who are currently in the detention center in The Hague, Netherlands.
This protest has been called by the KLA Veterans' Organization against the injustice that the Special Court alludes to, against key figures of Kosovo's liberation war. Representatives of political subjects, civil society, university professors, religious leaders, artists and athletes have come out in support of it.
The Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans' Organization called for mass participation in the protest, demanding that it take place in a peaceful and dignified manner, in defense of the values of the liberation war against injustices, which violate the dignity of the KLA's just war.
Kosovo's former president, Hashim Thaci, former Kosovar parliamentarians – Jakup Krasniqi and Kadri Veseli – and former Vetevendosje MP Rexhep Selimi are accused of so-called war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Specialist Chambers.
