Protests in Serbia

Tensions rose in Serbia on Saturday ahead of a rally in support of populist President Aleksandar Vucic, as he vowed to regain control after months of mass anti-corruption protests that have shaken his firm grip on power.

An incident with police occurred at the intersection in the Sestovo neighborhood of Novi Pazar, Serbia, when students attempted to block the departure of a bus carrying supporters of Aleksandar Vučić's party, the SNS, to a rally in Belgrade.

The students had blocked the intersection to prevent the bus from leaving. They chanted “Aren’t you ashamed?”, “Shame on you.” While as seen in the video below, the police were pulling some citizens by the hands and feet. Meanwhile, the Serbian police removed the crowd from the road and allowed the bus to pass.

Supporters of the government in Serbia have launched the "We will not give up on Serbia" rally, which was called by Serbian President Vučić.
