Zelenskyy's plan for the victory of Ukraine is believed to be a five-point plan.

In an interview with ABC News, the Ukrainian president described the plan as a "bridge" to a strong enough negotiating position for Ukraine to force Russia to end the war on Kiev's terms.

What are the components of the plan?

1. Invitation for Ukraine to join NATO: Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy's chief of staff and effective national security adviser, told the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Tuesday that a key element of the victory plan was an official invitation to NATO membership for Ukraine.

2. Long-range missiles to strike inside Russia: Ukraine has sought to use these missiles, to target places deep inside Russia, and increased its demands after its dramatic incursion into Russia's Kursk region in August.

3. Steady supply of advanced weapons: Since Russia's full invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Kiev has relied heavily on weapons and military platforms provided by NATO allies. Often, however, Ukraine has had to "beg" for specific weapons systems for weeks, initially facing rejections and eventually succeeding in persuading the US and others for supplies. This, Ukraine has said, reduces the effectiveness of its military countermeasures against Russia, delays its war aims and leads to the loss of lives that could have been saved. According to Bloomberg, the victory plan includes a demand for a sustainable supply chain of advanced weapons for Ukraine.

4. European Union (EU) membership: A clear path to EU membership is also part of the victory plan, according to Bloomberg. In an interview with the New Yorker, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is currently "excluded from the European Union and NATO."

5. Additional economic aid for Ukraine: Zelenskyy and his aides have emphasized that the victory plan includes a request for economic support. The World Bank estimates that the country will need 480 billion dollars for reconstruction.
