Iranit's Presidents, Ebrahim Raisi

The helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has crashed, Iranian state media reported, without providing any further information.

Raisi was traveling to an Iranian province east of Azerbaijan. State television said the incident occurred near Yolfa, a town on the border with Azerbaijan, about 600 kilometers northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Traveling with Raisin were Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, the governor of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province and other officials, state news agency IRNA reported. A local government official used the word "crash" to describe the incident.

Search and rescue teams are said to be finding it difficult to reach the crash site due to the bad weather. The area is covered by rain and dense fog.
