Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, said his country will refuse entry visas to UN officials following the controversial intervention of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
"Given your words, we will refuse to issue visas to UN representatives. Furthermore, we have already denied Under Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths a visa. The time has come to teach them a lesson ", said Erdan in an interview for Military Radio.
Earlier, Israel also demanded the resignation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
An Israeli foreign ministry spokesman told the BBC: “ It is important to also acknowledge that the attacks by Hamas did not happen in vain. The Palestinian people have been subjected to suffocating occupation for 56 years. But the grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the horrific attacks by Hamas. And these terrible attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people" .
