According to a report published by Corriere della Sera, an internal source in the Iranian regime has indicated that Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has agreed to step down and accept a ceasefire after a direct warning from US intelligence.

According to the source, Washington has sent Khamenei a clear and threatening message: "Either within 24 hours accept the ceasefire, or we will come for you," including the coordinates of his hidden location.

Khamenei, known for his extreme concern for his own survival and that of the Islamic regime, is said to have chosen to step down – not only because he had no choice, but also because he “needed a moment to breathe,” the source says.

Since yesterday morning, Iranian state television IRIB and other regime propaganda outlets have been mobilized to tell their version of what is now being called the "12-Day War."

On television shows, pro-regime commentators declare victory: "We won, no one could defeat us," while claiming that the US has also begged Iran to stop bombing American and Israeli bases.

According to this narrative, it was merciful that Iranian forces accepted the ceasefire demanded by the Trump administration.

A professor from Tehran, quoted by Corriere, comments on the situation this way: "The same story always – they declare victory even when they lose. They manipulate the narrative to save face and invite us to 'celebrate' in Enghelab Square."

Despite still hiding in a bunker due to fear of assassinations – following the assassination of several of his generals – Ayatollah Khamenei has been the first to declare "triumph".

In a post on X, he wrote: “Anyone who knows the Iranian people and their history knows that this people does not surrender.”

Following him, other regime figures also lined up with bombastic statements. Conservative MP Mahmoud Nabavian declared that “before this war, Iran was a regional power, now it is becoming an Islamic empire.”

Former President Hassan Rouhani warned that "the ceasefire should not be seen as the end of danger," but as an opportunity for deception that requires full vigilance.

While much of the international community is trying to figure out whether the parties will return to the negotiating table on the nuclear issue, the signals from Tehran are mixed.

The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Behrouz Kamalvandi, declared that "the nuclear industry will not stop" and that "its roots cannot be uprooted."

Western experts call this situation a clear defeat for Iran, describing it as the greatest military humiliation in the modern history of the Islamic Republic.

According to Corriere, the only real "victory" for the regime is the fact that Khamenei is still alive - and with him, the oppressive system he represents.

An Iranian girl named Mina, interviewed by the newspaper at the beginning of the conflict, concludes with shocking words: “The worst possible scenario for us came true – we were bombed and left under the rule of a wounded but more dangerous regime than ever.”
