"Unacceptable Views" - Meloni "Explodes" Against Israel

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted harshly to the treatment of activists detained by Israeli authorities after the intervention against the "Sumud" humanitarian flotilla, calling the footage published by Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir "unacceptable."

"The images of Israeli Minister Ben Gvir are unacceptable," Meloni wrote on the X platform, adding that it is "unacceptable that these demonstrators, among them many Italian citizens, are subjected to treatment that violates human dignity."

Her reaction comes after Ben-Gvir released a video from the Israeli port of Ashdod showing detained flotilla activists being forcibly dragged away by police, forced to kneel and with their hands tied behind their backs.

Meloni announced that the Italian government has immediately initiated action at the "highest institutional levels" to ensure the immediate release of the Italian citizens involved.

"Italy also demands an apology for the reserved treatment of these demonstrators and for the total disregard for the clear demands of the Italian government," she stated.

For this reason, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will immediately summon the Israeli ambassador in Rome to request "formal clarifications" on the event.

Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have stated that all 430 flotilla activists have been transferred to Israel and will be allowed to meet with consular representatives of their countries.
