Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reacted after the decision of the Turkish government to stop trade with Israel. He said that it is now time to act and that patience was over.
According to Erdogan, the opposition in Turkey used the fact that the government did not take measures against Israel and used something like that for the country's elections.
"Recent developments in Israel's military operations in Gaza are unacceptable. That is why we believe it was necessary to take this step. We expected to see the situation calm down before taking these measures, but the opposition used this to attack us. After the elections are over, we move on to actions and facts," said Erdogan.
The ban on imports and exports will continue until there is a ceasefire and the population's access to humanitarian aid is guaranteed.
"Between 40 and 45 thousand innocent civilians were killed with the cooperation of the West and America in particular. Now patience has run out and we have taken this measure. Trade with Israel was 9.5 billion dollars, nothing changes for us, give up, the door is closed," Erdogan repeated.
