Serbian Minister Bratislav Gashič declares that the Serbian authorities know who killed the former leader of the Kosovo Serbs, Oliver Ivanović. He presented an extended report of the working group that was set up on this issue and according to him the killer is in Germany under the protection of the German authorities.
"We know exactly who the killer is and we have asked the German authorities under whose protection this man is at the moment to give us all the information. We have photos from Tirana airport when he landed, we have photos when he entered Prishtina, we have photos when he entered the apartment and our constant request to our partners, our friends, is to give us all the satellite camera footage and say that it is not possible. There was fog. There is fog in London 350 days a year, now there is one day in Mitrovica... The case has been solved in the way professionals solve it", the Serbian Interior Minister is quoted as saying .
Oliver Ivanovic was killed on January 16, 2018, with six bullets in his back. The murder was committed in front of his party's office in North Mitrovica, a municipality inhabited by a majority of Serbs in the north of Kosovo.
Over five years after this murder, the case is still unsolved. The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has so far filed three indictments, but there have been no substantial changes in them, only the persons who "knowingly and intentionally helped the criminal group to commit the criminal offense of the murder of Oliver Ivanović" are mentioned, but not the author of murder or the orderer.
Indictments have been filed against police officials Nedelko Spasojevic, Radeta Basara, Zharko Jovanovic, but also against Ivanovic's secretary, Silvana Arsovic, and Marko Rosic, a citizen of North Mitrovica.
On October 19, 2022, the Kosovo Police arrested a member of the Serbian community, MM, under suspicion that he is a member of "an organized criminal group" linked to the murder. Even the Office of the Special Prosecution of Serbia is conducting investigations into the murder of Ivanović.
