The ambassadors of the European Union countries are expected to approve the decision on the liberalization of visas for Kosovo starting from January 1, 2024.
This is what the Free Europe media reports.
This comes after the return to the agenda of this issue, which was removed last week due to the tensions between Pristina and Belgrade regarding license plates.
The decision that will bring the free movement of Kosovo citizens to the countries of the Schengen area is expected to be approved without discussion, as the Union states have agreed on it since November 22.
The text was compiled by the Czech Republic, which holds the current EU presidency, but based on the Spanish proposal.
According to a version seen by Radio Free Europe, visa-free movement will be possible when the European travel system, ETIAS, comes into force.
Until January 2024, Kosovo must make an agreement on repatriation with those EU countries that have not yet continued to adapt their visa policy to those of the EU.
