Lajcak on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue: The parties must make concessions to get

Miroslav Lajcak has come out openly with demands towards Kosovo and Serbia.

Both sides will have to make concessions to get something in return, was the clear message of the European Union's special envoy for the dialogue.

The implementation of the agreement for the normalization of relations must advance both from Serbia and from Kosovo, and the respective obligations must be fulfilled step by step in parallel. Commenting on the meetings he had this week, the senior European official stopped at his trip to Serbia where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and chief negotiator Petar Petkovic.

"Our discussions were a continuation of efforts to advance the implementation of the Agreement on the Road to Normalization. As with our discussions in Kosovo, we also addressed other urgent issues in the dialogue mediated by the EU, emphasizing the need for urgent solutions in preparation for the meeting of the chief negotiators. On Wednesday I had a useful meeting with the leader of the opposition party of Kosovo, PDK, Memli Krasniqi. We talked about the situation in Kosovo and the importance of progress in the Dialogue for Kosovo's path towards the EU. On Thursday, I also hosted the two chief negotiators in Brussels. The meetings were helpful in making progress on a number of issues on our Dialogue agenda and I expect swift action soon. Therefore, I plan to continue the talks in the coming days and weeks", he wrote on Facebook.
