The head of the mercenary group Wagner blames Russian officials for the lack of ammunition and estimates that the Ukrainian counterattack will begin around mid-May.

Yevgeny Prigozhin stated that his men fighting mainly in Bakhmut (eastern Ukraine) continued to face a shortage of ammunition, while warning that an expected Ukrainian counterattack could be a "tragedy" for Russia.

"We only get 10-15% of the ammunition we need," Prigozhin told Russian blogger Simeon Pegov.

Mr. Prigozhin, who blames Russian staff for the lack of ammunition, estimates that the Ukrainian counteroffensive will begin around mid-May. "This counterattack can turn into a tragedy for our country," he warned.

Yevgeny Prigozhin is in conflict - often publicly - with the Russian military hierarchy, which he accuses of not supplying his country with sufficient quantities of ammunition. He has been consistently successful against Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Ukrainian officials said last week that preparations for the counterattack were nearing completion.
