The sole survivor of the Air India plane crash that killed 241 people has described his mixed emotions when he learned he was the only one who managed to survive. Vishwas Kumar Ramesh on one hand, describes his survival as a miracle and on the other hand added that the death of his brother in the same accident took away all his happiness.
Nearly four months after the tragedy, the 39-year-old says the incident has left him with lingering memories of the past. He stressed that with his brother's death, his family has lost everything.
"I lost everything, my happiness. God gave me life, but he took all the happiness from me and my family. He completely destroyed my family... it's very difficult for me and my family," he said.
The London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a medical school shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport on June 12, killing everyone on board except the 39-year-old.
Some 169 Indian passengers and 52 British nationals died. 19 other people on the ground also died and 67 were seriously injured.
A preliminary report on the incident by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau revealed that both of the plane's fuel feeders were shut off shortly after takeoff, cutting off the engine's fuel supply.
