Canada declares that it will recognize Palestinian state in September

Canada will recognize the Palestinian state in September, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters on Wednesday, CNN reports.

"Canada has always been committed to a two-state solution – an independent, stable and sovereign Palestinian state that lives alongside the State of Israel in peace and security," said Carney, accompanied by Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

The decision comes after similar announcements from France, which has said it will recognize the Palestinian state in September, and the United Kingdom, which has said it will do so if Israel does not meet certain conditions, including a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
