"We are tired of airports" - Trains are back in Europe
Trains return to Europe

Trains are returning to Europe. Paris-Vienna has sold 70% of tickets since the line opened in December 2021. It departs at 7:30 from Paris and is in Vienna at 10 for a ticket of 30 euros. For direct connections, TrenItalia also foresees the creation of a direct line with Paris and Madrid starting from the end of 2024, after the incredible success of the direct Milan-Paris, Turin-Lion lines.

Paris-Berlin comes into operation from the end of 2023 with a high-speed line that takes the journey to 7 hours.

It's all part of a resurgence of passenger interest in long-haul train lines.

"They are irritated with the experience of airports and want to eliminate their carbon footprint," France24 quoted an employee in the sales department as saying.

The environmental argument takes on maximum importance in the times we live in, apart from the quality of travel. Specifically, a flight from Paris to Vienna emits 419.6 kg of carbon, while traveling by train 41.5 kg.

However, change requires political action, as the increased interest in train travel hits the civil aviation industry, which is still on its knees due to the pandemic.
