Croatian police have been searching for 10 players from Africa who disappeared during a trip to Croatia, where they were due to face a local ecpy.

Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Police said in a statement that it is working to unravele details of their disappearance.

"Police have received notification of the absence of Burundian nationals who were participating in the World Junior Championships.

On Wednesday at about 15:30 they left in the unknown direction. Measures and actions are being taken to find missing handballlists and asses all relevant facts and circumstances of their disappearance," the Croatian police said in a statement.

The Croatian Handball Federation said that before the match with Bahrain, Burundi players left the campus without the permission of technical staff.

The president of the Burundi Handball Federation, Dauphin Nikobamye, said they were in shock.

"We as a federation and the parents of young players are also looking for everyone who can help us find them." I don't know how we will get home without them," he said.

It is not excluded that they planned their own escape to the EUROPEAN Union countries.
