Israel's foreign minister, Israel Katz, declared that the head of the UN, Antonio Guterres, has been declared " person non grata " and has been banned from entering the Jewish state .
The decision, according to the Israeli chief diplomat , is due to the fact that Guterres did not condemn Iran's missile attack .
That was enough for Guterres to be accused of being anti-Israel and of supporting " terrorists, rapists and murderers." Guterres, Katz said, will be remembered by generations to come as a blot on the history of the United Nations.
The Secretary General of the UN condemned a day ago the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East with escalation after escalation as he said, he called for an immediate ceasefire .
Iran fired nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday , in response to what it described as its aggression in Lebanon and Gaza .
On the same day, Guterres condemned the " continued escalation of the conflict ".
For Israel Katz , the fact that the UN chief did not mention Iran makes him an undesirable person in Israel .
"Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran's heinous attack against Israel, as almost all countries of the world have done, does not deserve to set foot on Israeli soil. Israel will continue to protect its citizens and preserve its national dignity, with or without Antonio Guterres", said Israel Katz .
Israel's response to Iran in April was relatively mild and seemed calibrated to avoid the risks of a full-scale war between rival countries, even as it broke a taboo on direct attacks by Tehran .
Experts, however, believe that this time, Israel may decide to strike back much harder.
