Iran has provided the technology needed for the production of supersonic floating missiles.
The technology is still in the testing phase, Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on August 9.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf with the United States and after last week new ships were unveiled equipped with missiles with a range of 600 kilometers.
"This missile, which is a new generation Iranian-made cruise missile, is currently being tested and will be a new chapter in Iran's defensive power," Tasnim reported.
The Fattah missile launched by Iran on June 6, 2023.
The speed of supersonic missiles exceeds that of sound or, on average, 3,701 kilometers per hour.
In June, Iran claimed to have developed a hypersonic missile that it said is capable of defeating air defenses and flying at speeds 15 times that of sound.
