Donald Trump has left clear instructions to bomb Iran like never before if the Islamic Republic kills or attempts to execute the American president.

Through a post on social media, Trump said that the orders have already been given.

"1,000 missiles are ready, loaded, and pointed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, and thousands more will follow immediately if the Iranian government acts on its threat to assassinate or attempt to assassinate the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, me!"

Trump's statement comes as media outlets have reported that the US has received a steady stream of information in recent weeks about plans to assassinate Trump.

A warning issued by Israel that Iran had hatched a new plot to eliminate the US president was more specific, although its details have not been made public.

The information from Israeli intelligence services is also seen as an attempt to influence the US president's decision during peace negotiations with Tehran.

Over the past week, as Khamenei's funeral ceremony was held, large crowds of Iranians were heard chanting for Trump's death.
