
The alarm about Hantavirus has already reached across the Adriatic.
The Italian Ministry of Health has activated "active surveillance" for four passengers who were on board a KLM flight to Rome, on which a woman was for several minutes admitted to a hospital in Johannesburg, where she died as a result of Hantavirus.
The contacts of the four passengers, it is stated in a statement, have been identified and the information has been transmitted to the relevant regions: Calabria, Campania, Tuscany and Veneto, in order to activate surveillance "according to the principle of maximum caution", reports "Ansa".
The Italian Ministry of Health has activated the foreseen risk assessment, surveillance and health coordination procedures, in accordance with national and international protocols.
