A robbery worth over 600 thousand euros, an equally unusual return, and a handwritten letter that adds to the mystery... This is a highly unusual case in Milan.

It all happened very quickly at the prestigious The Westin Palace hotel.

An American tourist became the victim of a spectacular robbery, a black Tom Ford bag with AirPods, credit cards, cash ($600 and 300 euros) and most importantly, four super expensive Richard Mille watches, each valued at 150 thousand euros.

Police immediately intervened, arresting a 27-year-old Frenchman who was behaving suspiciously. The young man is suspected of being an accomplice in the robbery, while the "protagonist" managed to escape. Authorities say he is a 19-year-old Moroccan with a previous criminal record.

But a day later came the big twist, the bag was found in the same place, in the hotel lobby. Inside was some money and the watches were undamaged. What aroused the most interest was the letter written in Italian in a messy script:

"Gli orologi sono falsi", i.e. "The clocks are fake".

A twist that surprised even the police. Was this an attempt to evade legal responsibility? Or perhaps an attempt to mislead the investigation?

However, the investigations continue, in a case that resembles a movie with comedy and crime inside.
