US Supreme Court blocks Trump's global tariffs!

US President Donald Trump has just received a serious legal blow against his economic policies: the Supreme Court, the highest court in the US, has overturned the US government's sweeping global tariffs.

The Supreme Court emphasized that Trump's tariffs are not legal and the legal basis provided by the US President could not be applied in this case, reports the German magazine DER SPIEGEL.

The NEW YORK TIMES newspaper writes that the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that President Trump exceeded his authority when he imposed sweeping tariffs on imports from almost every US trading partner.  

The court's 6-3 decision has important consequences for the American economy, consumers, and the president's trade policy.

The Trump administration had stated that a loss in the Supreme Court could force the government to cancel trade agreements with other countries and potentially pay hefty refunds to importers.
